This project started in Colegio Santiago\nde Le\u00f3n de Caracas (CSLC) as a\nresponse to the results achieved from\nthe first Ibero-American study of the use\nof screens among children and\nadolescents of which we are part of.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 \u201cInteractive Generations<\/strong>was a sponsored study and it was developed\nby Telef\u00f3nica Foundation and University\nof Navarra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The objective of the study was to\nidentify consumption habits, timing and\nconsumed information through different\nscreens. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2007 social media started just to\nposition itself and become a major\nphenomenon. Facebook and Youtube\nwere just emerging as small giants, and\nthe first iPhone was arriving into stores.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The first results we got from the study\ncaused us great concern as many of our\nstudents were exposed to risk situations\non the Internet,and also on cable TV\nchannels and programmes with no\ncensorship. NO-one was doing\nanything, screens burst into our\nstudents\u2019 rooms without supervision and\ncontrol, and cyberbullying was\nsomething people talked about, but still\nseen as a distant reality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Based on this reality, we committed to\ninclude tools and experiences to\nsupport our students to be able to identify opportunities, advantages and\nrisks of being online. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the end of 2007, we outlined a\ncoherent and progressive class\nschedule to train our new students in\nresponsibility and online security. This is\nhow Ciberbrigadista or online safety\nbrigade was born.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By then, our motto was: Think, Write,\nRevise and Share.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

With Ciberbrigadista we are training a\nwhole generation of students and\ncreating activities for children and young\npeople in different age groups. We are\ndesigning a large number of materials,\nthese are resources which nowadays\nproduce a campaign through social\nnetworks including everyone regardless\nof age as we are all online and nobody\nteaches us how to become a good\nInternet user.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the years, Ciberbrigadista has\ntaken direction and catchphrases from\n\u2018Using The Internet sensibly\u2019 to \u2018Share\nresponsiBLY\u2019.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
